Justice and Anti-Oppression-Based Therapy
Therapy cannot be separate from the world we live in. Many of the challenges and wounds we carry are not just personal but collective—shaped by racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and colonialism.
In justice-oriented therapy, your story is understood within these wider systems. This means:
Recognizing the impact of oppression on body, mind, and spirit
Valuing your lived experience and cultural wisdom
Holding therapy as a space of solidarity and care
So many therapy spaces claim to avoid politics to support neutrality, but that just forces people to stay silent about their real feelings and real lives. At Safe Haven Therapy, you’re welcome to bring your whole self, and your whole context, into our work, without fear of critique or silencing.
If you are queer, trans, neurodivergent, racialized, or navigating the effects of colonialism and systemic injustice, this therapy is for you. Together, we can process not only individual pain but also historical, ancestral and collective wounds, while cultivating resilience and joy.
We also acknowledge that oppression harms everyone so if you’re looking to address internalized positions of dominance such as internalized whiteness or patriarchy, this is welcome too. Even celebrated.
Healing is personal, but it is also political. My commitment is to provide therapy that honours both.
